I stopped using PA and CM after being fed up with the developer's arrogance and hostility towards questions. Good thing this is not 2011 anymore. There are choices so you don't have to be stuck with one ROM.

I've been flashing ROMs since 2010 and I have never used stock ROMs on phones for more than two days. You listed 10 reasons why custom ROMs suck, but we can list a lot more for why stock ROMs suck and custom ROMs are better. The best reason: I can never stand the FUGLY skin OEMs decided are better than holo. Ugh. Just get rid of that shit already.
You have to spend time tinkering with settings after flash ROMs for the first few days, but after that you can just sit down, relax and enjoy your beautiful new phone. :)Chryshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03630400922649728075noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7103101569236748823.post-75649792537327297842014-05-13T03:16:11.805-10:002014-05-13T03:16:11.805-10:00Amen. Everyone is raving about how awesome the ROM is, and I think it's awesome too. Until I try to install wallpaper. "The application isn't installed" .. Uh hello? Basic functionality alert! We all have AT&T Note 3's. How the hell do you miss that? then I go into accounts and EVERYTHING IS MISSING. No Samsung account even, so I can't restore my Scrapbook etc.

Then I try to connect my Gear 2. Failed to connect. what? Gear 2 manager failed. what?

I quickly went back to stock, and guess what stock isn't even stock now because somehow my stock got all messed up and because the Note 3 has mad GPS issues I had to get a KitKat ROM that all I could get was a non-stock KitKat rom.

Thinking about getting an S5 and getting rid of my Note. Why? because now the software is tainted and doomed to suffer endless bugs as a result.

Oh the 14th reason: Using the dodgiest of internet dark alley scammy spammy trashy equivalent to a herpes infested whore in the worst red light district ever download sites.

They're good enough programmers to know how to port apps from one phone to another but can't grasp the basics of not using ghetto download services. I've somehow never managed to have a problem sending files to people without using one of these ghetto services. Why can't they?Alexhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10147316336933194083noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7103101569236748823.post-51495254541507315032013-09-01T08:49:58.313-10:002013-09-01T08:49:58.313-10:00Yea, you are absolutely right. Last day I flashed the CM 9 stable version on my s3 and the camera application wasn't even opening in that stable release. After that I unroot my device and it is working as perfectly as possible on Stock OS. I am done with custom ROMS. I also tire of the devs who think they're so 1337 for stealing the CM or AOKP source and basically doing nothing more than pre-installing some customization apps while breaking other basic features like the camera or destroying battery life (looking at Task650's S3 ROM).

Now that I've upgraded to the S4, I've just frozen all the bloatware ATT and Samsung apps and I really don't think I'm going to even bother with a custom rom. Maybe if Android 5 comes out and offers some compelling reason.InvertedSquarehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04704558162599421719noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7103101569236748823.post-42865697275605545982013-06-28T21:25:28.653-10:002013-06-28T21:25:28.653-10:00this is exactly why i jumped ship to ios. when i a...this is exactly why i jumped ship to ios. when i asked about performance tips for my note , what replied i get the most are 'use custom rom', and yeah, they were right at first.. until about a month, when random bugs, reboot started to appear. smh (before this i use dell streak, similar problem also with custom rom).

my conclusion is this: use custom rom if u didnt use your phone a lot, and just want to show off your benchmark result.

now i am using ip 4s (my first time ios), best phone ever. :)papier-machehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13689665829879995027noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7103101569236748823.post-10899464279952824452013-06-20T18:40:00.357-10:002013-06-20T18:40:00.357-10:00Thanks to everyone who has replied to this post. I was even able to over clock the cpu. The phone was really quick for about a day. Day number and the phone is really falling on it's face. I got a call from my girlfriend earlier and just got a black screen. I couldn't answer the call. It was right then that I decided to go back to stock Jelly Bean. My phone might be a tad slow but at least it's stable running unrooted Jelly Bean. This article is exactly what I needed to hear. I don't want to start my phone over and over again. I want to spend time using it and having fun with it. Not trying to get it to work all the time.
